--Going small may be the best way for the Pistons to combat their lack of frontcourt depth. The inclusion of Antonio McDyess in the Iverson deal with Denver deprived coach Michael Curry of his best frontcourt reserve.During the fourth quarter of the Pistons' win at Sacramento, Curry used a three-guard set with Richard Hamilton and Allen Iverson being joined by either pint-sized point guard Will Bynum or shooting guard Arron Afflalo. Tayshaun Prince slid over to the power forward spot.
The Pistons offset their lack of size with quick hands on defense, taking the Kings out of their offensive flow.
"That's why we went small, so they could go to their postup game," Curry said. "We felt better defending the postups than we did the pick-and-rolls. It worked to our favor this time."
--The official 2009 All-Star ballots were released by the league. Chauncey Billups and Antonio McDyess are on it as Pistons and Iverson is on as a Nugget. That's because they were done before the Nov. 3 trade.
They are representing their new teams on the online ballot, and all votes for those players count to their new teams and conference.
All the Pistons' other starters are on the ballot -- Rasheed Wallace (center), Tayshaun Prince (forward) and Richard Hamilton (guard).
--The century mark has been the magic number for the Pistons. They have a 5-0 record when scoring 100 or more points and are 0-2 when they have fallen short of triple digits.
QUOTE TO NOTE: "That's a huge lift off of me. It just feels good. I wanted to get that monkey off my back and get that first win. Now we can try to get a whole lot more." -- Guard Allen Iverson on recording his first victory as a Piston.
