Detroit Pistons Notes, Quotes 2009-02-01
--Boston C Kendrick Perkins was ejected from the game Friday with 5:56 left for a Flagrant Foul 2 against Pistons reserve F Jason Maxiell. Perkins grabbed Maxiell by the back of the neck and threw him to the floor after Maxiell made an offensive rebound. Maxiell received a technical after jumping to his feet and shoving Perkins.

"I tried to foul him hard on his arms and he ducked his head and I got him on the neck," Perkins said.

In recent years, the Pistons usually ramped up their intensity after a heated exchange. But instead of drawing inspiration from the altercation, the Pistons were outscored 8-2 over the next two minutes.

--G Allen Iverson scored 19 points against the Celtics, moving past Hall of Famer Charles Barkley and into 16th place on the NBA's all-time scoring list.

"I want to get past Barkley with one other accomplishment, and that's winning a championship," Iverson said. "That's it. I don't care about any of that individual stuff."

Barkley did not win a title during his career.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "As soon as your confidence goes away and you don't believe in yourself and the people around you, you're done." -- G Allen Iverson, on whether the Pistons are still legitimate contenders.
