Detroit Pistons Notes, Quotes 2009-07-25
--Most of the heavy lifting has been completed. The roster overhaul engineered by president of basketball operations Joe Dumars isn't quite through. He plans to add another frontcourt player, using the veteran minimum salary slot. Ex-Piston Ben Wallace, whose contract was recently bought out by Phoenix, is a possibility. So is journeyman Rasho Nesterovic.

Dumars may also add another point guard to back up Rodney Stuckey and Will Bynum.

--F Charlie Villanueva is an admitted Twitter fanatic. He's constantly updating his page and recently lost a contest with Toronto's Chris Bosh on who would be the first to have 50,000 followers.

He also irritated Milwaukee coach Scott Skiles during a game last season by posting a halftime message.

"I just want to keep the fans involved," he said. "It's a good social network."

QUOTE TO NOTE: "When people were saying 'Wait 'til next summer' -- no, you don't wait until next summer because you don't know what's happening. When those (lower league-wide salary-cap) numbers came out, you see why you don't sit there and wait until 2010." -- President of basketball operations Joe Dumars, on why he chose to use his $20 million in salary-cap space this summer instead of waiting on the potentially superstar-laden free agent market next year.
