DRAFT PICKS:
Trent Plaisted, PF/C, 6-11, BYU -- Plaisted, a left-hander, has some effective low-post moves plus a decent mid-range jumper. He also runs the floor well for a man his size. He has been asked to play overseas this season, and he has reportedly signed to play for Biella in Italy. Deron Washington, F, 6-6, Virginia Tech -- Washington is a good defender and slasher who needs to work on his shooting. Like Plaisted, the Pistons have asked him to find a spot overseas this season.
PLAYER NOTES:
--F Tayshaun Prince has never been selected to the All-Star team, unlike all the other Pistons starters. But he has something they don't -- an Olympic gold medal. Prince averaged 4.3 points and 1.9 rebounds as a reserve for the U.S. Olympic team. He scored six points during the second quarter of the gold medal game against Spain.
--F Walter Herrmann could play more under new coach Michael Curry, but it wouldn't be safe to assume he'll be part of the rotation. Curry is more inclined to go with smaller lineups when Tayshaun Prince is out of the game, with either Richard Hamilton or Arron Afflalo playing the small forward position.
--G Will Bynum will be used as a change-of-pace option when the Pistons want to speed up the game. The Pistons view him Bynum as a third-string guard who thrives in the open court and can finish. They also believe he has the tenacity to be a pesky defensive stopper in the mold of Lindsey Hunter.
