Detroit Pistons Roster Report 2008-09-22
DRAFT PICKS:

Trent Plaisted, PF/C, 6-11, BYU -- Plaisted, a left-hander, has some effective low-post moves plus a decent mid-range jumper. He also runs the floor well for a man his size. He has been asked to play overseas this season, and he has reportedly signed to play for Biella in Italy.

Deron Washington, F, 6-6, Virginia Tech -- Washington is a good defender and slasher who needs to work on his shooting. Like Plaisted, the Pistons have asked him to find a spot overseas this season.

PLAYER NOTES:

--F Jason Maxiell is negotiating a contract extension with Dumars through his agent, Richard Katz. An agreement would have to be reached before the end of training camp. Otherwise, Maxiell would become a restricted free agent next summer.

--G Richard Hamilton is the only player who hasn't spent some time at the Pistons' practice facility during the offseason but that is nothing unusual. Hamilton, one of the league's best-conditioned athletes, has his own training regimen.

"He's always the last guy to come in," Dumars said.

--C Rasheed Wallace began working out at the practice facility more than two weeks before the start of camp.

"We just have to continue to manage him," Dumars said. "I don't run back to my office and say, 'We've got to trade Rasheed,' when he has an outburst because I see the other 10 nights when he helps us in ways nobody else can."
