Source: Rasheed Wallace, Celtics agree to deal
Rasheed Wallace has agreed to sign with the Boston Celtics, a source close to the team told FOXSports.com on Sunday.

Bill Strickland, Wallace's agent, told the Boston Herald and the Boston Globe on Sunday night that Wallace told him to call off meetings the agent was scheduling with the Orlando Magic, San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Mavericks.

Wallace, 34, averaged 12 points per game for Detroit last year. In the playoffs he averaged 6.5 points per game as Detroit was swept in four games by Cleveland in the first round.

Wallace earned $13.68 million last season. According to the source, he has accepted a two-year deal for the midlevel exception, worth between $5.6 million and $5.8 million a year. NBA free agents are not able to sign until Wednesday.

Wallace played the last six seasons with the Detroit Pistons, where he won an NBA championship in 2004. He heads to a Celtics team loaded with veterans such as Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce, and hoping to make at least one more title run.

The Celtics' pursuit of Wallace included sending Garnett, Allen and Pierce, plus owner Wyc Grousbeck, coach Doc Rivers and president Danny Ainge to meet with the forward last week.

Wallace has averaged 15 points and 6.9 rebounds in 14 NBA seasons. He averaged 12 points and 7.4 rebounds last season.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
