Forward Carl Landry was shot in the left calf early Tuesday morning. Teammates have spent many of the hours since with him, and Landry visited with the team after the morning walk-through.

"I've dealt with a lot of things, arrests and everything else. I've never dealt with this," Rockets coach Rick Adelman said. "Hopefully, we can just go out and play, knowing that Carl is OK."

Rockets players said that the sense of relief helped get them back to business as usual.

"It would have been hard, but I've talked to him quite a few times," Aaron Brooks said. "We're uplifted; we're happy that he's OK."

Running on few cylinders

Pistons guard Allen Iverson returned Wednesday to Georgetown Medical Center for additional tests on his lower back.

The Pistons also were without Richard Hamilton because of left groin soreness, which caused him to miss eight games early this season. Rasheed Wallace was out with a sore left calf.

Confident newcomer

For the first time since he joined the Rockets on March 3, forward James White went through a practice on Tuesday. That and the games he has watched, he said, would be enough for him to run most of the Rockets' sets should he be needed.

White was on the active list Wednesday. He was also active on Monday because of Yao Ming's illness.

"A lot of the stuff we do is reads, the continuity stuff we run," White said. "I pretty much have that down. Most of the stuff we run you just have to make smart Basketball decisions. I think if I get put in there, I could run a couple things."

Dorsey on the mend

Rockets center/forward Joey Dorsey has struggled in his attempt to come back from plantar fasciitis in his right foot since he was cleared to increase his workouts on Sunday.

The team wants him to be able to go through at least four consecutive strong workouts before considering whether to get him some playing time in the NBA Development league or keep him with the Rockets.
